How to convert WebP to JPG without uploading

  1. Add one .webp or a whole pile. Files stay in this tab.
  2. Each image is decoded here and written as a JPEG.
  3. Save the JPGs, or a zip if you dropped more than one.

The originals stay on your device. You download a new file. Close the tab and the working copies are gone from memory.

Why WebP needs a JPEG

WebP is smaller. That is why Chrome and many share sheets write it. A lot of software still only wants .jpg — Outlook, printers, older Windows viewers, school and government upload forms.

This page decodes the WebP in this tab and writes a JPEG at the same pixel count. Quality is high. The JPG may be larger than the WebP. That is the format, not a bug.

Canvas export washes EXIF. If the WebP still had tags, they do not ride along.

WebP to JPG FAQ

Do my WebP files get uploaded?

No. Conversion runs in this tab with the File and Canvas APIs. TrashPandaKit never receives the file.

Will the JPEG look worse?

A little JPEG compression is how the format works. Quality is set high (92). For a screenshot with hard edges, PNG is the better target — WebP to PNG, or keep the WebP.

Can I convert more than one WebP at a time?

Yes. Drop a pile. When more than one is done, download a zip.

Does this work offline?

Yes, after you have opened this tool once. That tool stays cached on this device. Other tools download when you open them.
