Remove Photo Metadata
How to strip GPS and EXIF
- Add one photo or a whole pile — JPEG, PNG, WebP, or HEIC. They stay in this tab.
- See GPS, camera, timestamps, and other metadata we found.
- Re-save clean copies and download them. Nothing is uploaded.
The original on disk is untouched. You download a new file. Close the tab and the working copy is gone from memory.
What gets scrubbed
- Location / GPS coordinates
- Date and time the photo was taken
- Phone or camera model, lens, software
- Author, copyright, and caption fields
- Embedded thumbnails
Phones write a hidden sidecar into every shot: where you stood, which phone, the exact second. Sharing the picture often shares that sidecar. Marketplace listings, dating profiles, and email attachments are the usual leak. Instagram and WhatsApp usually strip GPS on send. AirDrop, “download original” from Google Photos, and files still on the camera roll often do not.
Why this remover stays in the browser
Processing uses the File and Canvas APIs in this tab. We do not upload the photo, the GPS, or a thumbnail. The image is re-encoded so leftover EXIF segments cannot hide in the download. After one visit the tool works offline.
Want the scare first? See the pin on a map. Need it smaller too? Compress images — that re-save also washes the tags. What rides along with the pixels: what data is stored in a photo. Which apps wash the file: Instagram, WhatsApp, Slack, email. iPhone originals: HEIC, AirDrop, Google Photos. Need a JPEG that opens on Windows? Convert HEIC to JPG. Other format pairs: Convert images. Listings and dating: what still leaks.
Photo metadata FAQ
Do my photos get uploaded?
No. Processing runs in your browser with the File and Canvas APIs. Files are not sent to TrashPandaKit.
What metadata is removed?
GPS/location, camera and phone model, timestamps, software tags, IPTC/XMP when present, and embedded thumbnails. The image is re-encoded so leftover EXIF segments cannot remain.
Does this work on iPhone photos?
Yes. JPEG, WebP, and iPhone HEIC. HEIC is decoded in this tab and the clean download is a JPEG.
Can I clean more than one photo at a time?
Yes. Drop a pile. Review the tags, then scrub them all. When more than one is done, download a zip.
Does this work offline?
Yes, after you have opened this tool once. That tool stays cached on this device. Other tools download when you open them.
