HEIC to JPG
How to convert HEIC to JPG without uploading
- Add one iPhone HEIC / HEIF or a whole pile. The files stay in this tab.
- Each photo is decoded here and written as a JPEG at the original pixel count.
- Save the JPGs, or a zip if you dropped more than one. Nothing was uploaded.
The original on the phone is untouched. You download a new .jpg. Close the tab and the working copies are gone from memory.
Why iPhone photos need this
iPhones write HEIC unless you switched to Most Compatible. Mail, Windows, printers, and “JPG only” upload forms often bounce that file. Most online converters take a copy of the original — GPS and all. This one decodes the HEIC in this tab and writes a JPEG here.
Pixel count stays the same. Quality is high. The JPEG may be larger than the HEIC. That is the format, not a bug. Need it smaller for email or a listing? Compress images after, or drop the HEIC there and skip this page. Need a lossless still? HEIC to PNG. One document? HEIC to PDF. Other formats: Convert images.
Re-saving washes EXIF. If you want the scare first, see if GPS is still in the HEIC. Tags only, same pixels: Remove Photo Metadata — HEIC downloads as JPEG there too.
Longer version: convert HEIC without uploading. Why the original still has a pin: HEIC, AirDrop, Google Photos.
HEIC to JPG FAQ
Do my photos get uploaded?
No. Conversion runs in this tab with the File and Canvas APIs. TrashPandaKit never receives the HEIC.
What is HEIC?
HEIC is the default iPhone photo format (High Efficiency Image Container). It is smaller than JPEG, but Windows, email, and a lot of websites still want a .jpg.
Does converting HEIC to JPG remove GPS?
Yes. The JPEG is a canvas re-encode, so GPS, camera model, timestamps, and the embedded thumbnail do not ride along. Check the original first with Photo Location if you want the scare.
Why is the JPEG bigger than the HEIC?
HEIC is a more efficient container. A JPEG of the same pixels is often larger. That is normal. If you need it smaller, use Compress Images after — or instead.
Can I convert more than one HEIC at a time?
Yes. Drop a pile. When more than one is done, download a zip.
Does this work on iPhone?
Yes. In Safari or Chrome, pick the photos from Files or the photo picker. Live Photo video is skipped — only the still HEIC is converted.
Does this work offline?
Yes, after you have opened this tool once. That tool stays cached on this device. Other tools download when you open them.
